I had my first day solo at work and I balanced!!! There were a few moments where I wasn't sure what to do so I hope I did them right. My schedule has changed. Sundays are still 12-5 answering phones and M, W, F willbe 4-8 pm instead of 9-1am. The original reason I was going to have those hours was stopped so I'll now be answetring the phones those nights after the day receptionist leaves. I guess I'll get over my phone phobia. :)

Oh and 1 week till new Who!!

Got It!

I went to some car dealerships this morning and dropped off my resume to do some clerical stuff. I just got a call from the Ford dealership to do some part time with an interview tomorrow morning!!!

It'll be M, W, F 9-1, Sat all day, Sun 12-5

It'll include some cashiering, as well as receptionist duties. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

I made this big huge post yester day and, knowing all the troubles, I should have copied it. I really can't remember much so I think this will be bullets.

--now hitting offices with resume and cover letter in hand.

--reading a great series by Lauren Willig about spies in the early 1800s (in her world, the Scarlet Pimpernel was real!) The first book is The Secret History of the Pink Carnation.

--My latest fic, a Psych/Doctor Who crossover is close to 3000 reads at 2948! 2963!

--Cataloging my DVDs

--ALready cataloged my books and put little Dewey tags on the spines

I had an iTunes meme but I think I'll wait until everything is clear before re-doing that

It's Done

I went up to the new store again today with backup in the form of a friend who also had applied. Spoke to yet another person who took our names and numbers. I told him that I had to go ahead and make my Christmas plans and wouldn't be able to start until January. He said it wouldn't be a problem so I am going to be in Connecticut for Christmas for the first time in years!!

As for the job itself, I'm not too excited about it ($7.50/hr part time) but I'll see what happens.

Now I can sleep nights. :)

Hunt Update

I drove up to the store today as it's been a week since I applied. They couldn't find it! I told the woman I needed to know so I could make holiday plans. So I have to check tomorrow and if they still don't have it, I am making my reservations. I can't put this off any longer as they'll get more expensive as time runs down. If I were the one paying, I would have done so already, but as the folks are doing this as a gift, I can't until they give me the card. Argh! This is so aggavating!!

My folks told me on Thanksgiving that they would pay my airfare so I could spend Christmas with a major chunk of family at my sister's in CT. I started thinking packing and planning immediately. Just the other day a friend from where I used to work sent an email for a new store opening the 16th so I applied. Now I am prone to building up worry and anxiety out of things that don't bother most people to the point to where I don't sleep well and have to keep myself occuppied before I dwell on it. (I was an absolute nervous wreck the first day of school every year, and [livejournal.com profile] coquillagement can testify to that) I'm worried that I won't get to have my mini vacation (I haven't bought tickets yet). So I heard some news today that makes me think I might luck out. The manager of this new store is my old manager from before the last store was sold (2007). I worked with her at least 10 years so hopefully I might get away for 4-5 days.

Apart from work news, I started a community for Psych fans where you can find facts about the characters as revealed in the show. [livejournal.com profile] psych_ch_facts Stop by and check it out!

Just got a call and they want to interview me at Cracker Barrel this afternoon at 3:30!! I'll let you know how it goes.

ETA: OK, sounds like it would be a fun job and most of the employees there seemed to be happy. The thing is, it's only part time and I'd be getting min wage with maybe 15 hours a week. That would be less than unemployment. I think I'll wait for something that pays better or at least could promise more shifts. No final decision yet, but that's what I strongly leaning towards.

Good News

I just got called in for an interview on an application I just put in this morning. Thing is, it's only part-time and I need full-time for the insurance. My COBRA payment would be around $400 a month. Add to that my $200 car payment and I don't think part time will cover it. The manager is aware I'm looking for FT but he said to come in and talk anyway.

I'd feel kinda bad turning down an offer like this but I don't want to settle either. I'll wait and see how things go tomorrow morning.

Still Here

Yeah, I know it's been ages since I gave you a "real" post and I'm sorry for that. The quest is still going on. I have an in at the local Walgreens as I trained one of the managers when she used to work at the store. SHe told me to use her as a reference. It's also about 10 minutes from home. Across the street from there is a retail store, local to FL only, I believe, for which I also grabbed an application. I also put in for Borders which would be Heaven if I got it.

I've also taken time to clean my room, throwing out loads of stuff and I still have more to go. There will also be much shredding. I'm also working on another project. I have every classic Dr Who story from various sources. I am now trying to get them in chronological order. It's time consuming as I convert the DVDs to tape, getting them in order, then transferring them back to DVD, fitting at least 4 stories on a single disc. I have cleared so much space on the rack.

As for baseball, I really don't know who to cheer for at this point. I would like to see Tampa, but they'd have to win the next 2 games. It's the National League that is casuing troubles. I'm really not to keen on any of them. I really don't want Atlanta or Philly (being a Mets fan) but San Fran and Cincy don't have anything going for them to make me cheer either. All I can definitely say in regards to the Series: anyone but the Yankees.
