Hello Again!

Argh! I so hate picking up prescriptions! My ear was acting up yet again so after a visit to the ENT, i had to stop at Walgreens (not the one I usually go to) and dropped off my prescription at the window. "About an hour" they said which would be about 5:10. OK, I can deal. I went to Staples and picked up a few things then went back to Walgreens and nosed about inside. An hour later it wasn't ready. "About another 10-15 minutes." As I had been to the doctor, I had a book with me so that wasn't too bad. 5:30 still not ready. I didn't get it until 5:45!

I know I said that once I finished the transcribing I'd do more writing but I kinda started another project. I have one of those side-by-side VCR/DVR players so I've been copying my video to disc and now that I've found the proper cases, I've making covers and labels. I am doing some writing, really, but not as much as I could.

Well, I'm surprised I had no one try the quote or the songs last week. Not even one. Doesn't help with the self-esteem, people.

OK, the quote was from Arsenic and Old Lace
The songs:
1. Magic Bus -- The Who
2. What is Life -- George Harrison
3. Cold Cold Heart -- Tony Bennett/Tim McGraw
4. Game of Love -- Santana/Michelle Branch
5. The Riddle -- The Scarlet Pimpernel

Marriage is probably the chief cause of divorce

1. I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
2. Lover, I'm on the street Gonna go where the bright lights And the big city meet
3. Two dozen other dirty lovers Must be a sucker for it
4. ...Those days are over You don't have to sell your body to the night
5. ...Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night

I can get three of them:

1. I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

I am the Walrus. :)

4. ...Those days are over You don't have to sell your body to the night

ROXANNE!!!!!!!!

5. ...Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night

Solisbury Hill

#4 is RRRRRRRRRRRROXanne (well, that's how he sings it, anyway) :D

[identity profile] jpgr.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Very good. 3/5! I kinda had a feeling Roxanne would be an easy one but you have to include those once and awhile, don't you?

Answering a hair icon with a hair icon. :) The minute that started I knew it would be the song everyone got.

Touchy touchy. I meant to answer but I only knew 2.
Now, since others have answered 1, 4 and 5 (altho it is too tempting not to type ROXXXXANN)

2. is DeSI-I-I-I-RE by U2
3. is Sooner or Later by General Public

The quote sounds like something George Bernard Shaw would say.

Well, I only knew 1 was a Beatles song. My brain must be on the fritz today.

I've heard the quote but can't place it. Movie?

I think I need to find an icon of out and out laughter. ANyway, knowing the origin of the quote and then reading who you said it sounded like made me laugh. As for the soungs, I knew you'd get those.

[identity profile] jpgr.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's something I guess. As for the quote, it's TV.

Right. Laugh at me. And you wonder why I never attempt an answer. Who is it then, gorram Hawkeye again? Murphy Brown?

Was out of it last week and I so love the Scarlet Pimpernel. I totally would have gotten that one.

Anyway the quote is absolutely from MASH but I'm having trouble with who, it might be either Trapper or Hawkeye bantering back and forth.

It's from M*A*S*H. But by looking at the quote, it does sound like something from Shaw or Wilde.

It is from M*A*S*H but neither Hawkeye or Trapper.

I love the novel and I've found an online site that has them all! I saw it on Broadway maybe a month or two after it opened (I know it was summer) and the Riddle is one of my fav songs. There's a "Making Of" special divided into a number of parts on YouTube if your interested.

I'm surprised you didn't get #2. As it's already been said, it's "Desire" by U2. #3 I don't think you've been exposed to, at least not through family that I'm aware of. It's "Sooner or Later" by English Beat. They split up and some became General Public and some became Fine Young Cannibals.

Just realized you said it was General Public when it was the English Beat. Just to clarify not to be mean.
