Girls' Weekend
Oct. 23rd, 2006 06:34 pmThis past weekend I went with
coquillagement to my sister's house in upstate Connecticut. The ride was plagued by idiot drivers which necessitated a vente carmel macchiato, or as Co put it "road rage in a cup".
As we left a little later than planned, we didn't reach our destination until about 8:30. One sister had already arrived and had helped prepare dinner. When the last sister arrived, the beer and wine were already flowing as was the inherent silliness.
After dinner, the music came out. And not just CDs. We're talking albums of the vinyl variety. Loud singing and "interpretive" dance followed and before we knew it, it was 4:30!
The next morning after everyone else slept in (for some reason I was awake at 7:30) we went for a nature walk which was a bit more than I was used to. The trails were not easy to follow taking into account they were left as nature intended with fallen logs and stones. Also, I admit I am not in the best of shape. I can do well on flat surfaces (as one sister said, if I were walking in Manhattan, I'd have no problem)but the incline was a bit much. I braved it along with my trusty staff, earning the nickname "Moses". (I saw myself more as Gandalf)
Afterward, we stopped at a local apple orchard that has been in the same spot in the same family since 1746!! The views were gorgeous and the smells absolutely wonderful. We made a quick stop for groceries and beer before returning home. The night was not as rowdy as Friday, but there was still loud singing. Due to the night before, we all collapsed earlier at 12:30.
After another sleep-in, we all had a wonderful breakfast with your choice of tea, coffee, scones, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt & fruit. Co and I left around noon making back home around 3:30 or so and got to catch up on what her family did while we were gone.
