Before the Storm
Aug. 31st, 2009 03:59 pmI hear thunder all around and the sky is getting dark so I guess I'd better post before the power goes.
I did mean to post yesterday but I got caught up in a book. Strange, I know. Anyway, I've been caught up in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Yes, it's a bit of a Potter knock-off but only in the fact that the boy is young (12) with special talents, instead of a school, he goes to a summer camp where they are divided into cabins instead of houses, and his two best friends are a boy and girl. I think if look at it on its own merits, it's fun. Plus, I've always loved mythology, esp Greek. I think I was in 3rd grade when I discovered my sister's copy of Edith Hamilton's Mythology. I found the first book when I was in MD and I was in a book crisis. I didn't read it until a few weeks after I got home, having forgotten I had it. They've already made a film of the first novel and I think it'll be out later in the year. I'm just lloking forward to seeing Pierce Brosnan as a centaur. :) I did find some of the books online so if you want to try that route....
Both the writing and stitching are movong along slowly. I plan to get some more done while I watch Andy Roddick tonight.

Books, Books and More Books
Aug. 28th, 2007 04:43 pmI have taken it upon myself to finally go through the many boxes of books I have in the attic. I've decided ti basically keep all my DW novels and the HPs of course, but there are a few series I plan to get rid of either at a book swap or the library. Thing is, I'd thought I'd offer them up here first. The only payment I'd ask is shipping.
