Well, we're starting to get the continuous rain now. There was a band that passed through earlier around 9:30 but then it cleared. Now on the radar, the whole area is covered with rain. The heavy duty squalls won't be until this evening. t least I'm closing tomorrow night so Idon't have to be in until midday.

(If anyone is curious as to my general location in Florida, find the middle point of Lake Okeechobee's eastern shore and draw a line to the ocean.)

Well, I just came in from outside where we could see the final launch of the space shuttle Discovery. Thankfully, we live on a golf course so we had a nice clear spot for viewing. Only 2 more to go.

To boldy go...wait, that's been used already )

Yep, it's 48 outside and they're predicting a low of 30 for our area. Of course, those of you in the northern climes are rolling your eyes and making little "pffft" noises. I understand this is nothing to you and next week I'll be there with you. I got my suitcase down from the attic and picked up a few necessities today so I can start picking away at packing. Tomorrow will be a cold day so I'll be warming things up by baking spice cake for the neighbors. (And Co, I'll be making some when I come north)

Last Week

The quote was from I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Longfellow

1. Heart of Glass -- Blondie
2. Respect -- Aretha Franklin
3. Just Like Heaven -- The Cure
4.

5. Can't Buy Me Love -- The Beatles

This Week

1. ...Now that war is declared-and battle come down
2. When I die and they lay me to rest Gonna go to the place that's the best
3. ...I'm the burning bush, I'm the burning fire I'm the bleeding volcano
4. Father, hear thy children's call Humbly at thy feet we fall
5. Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling too

My dad and I were going to get the tree down yesterday and then he changed his mind for a number of reasons. 1)it was too heavy and (2)since I won't be here, they don't need a big tree. He was going to get one of those fake table-top trees but I mentioned a small real tree. Anyway, they come back from their morning out (breakfast, cards, errands) and in the trunk is a small tree. Mom's like "Wait till I tell you the story".

They were outside the grocery store where there was one small tree left and they were looking at it. A woman comes up to them (probably anywhere from 30-50) and says that the tree had already been sold and she was waiting for her husband to come pick it up. Mom and Dad thank her, say "Merry Christmas" and go inside to shop.

The woman comes and finds Mom, telling her "I want you to have this" and gives her the tree, already bought and paid for. They hug and the woman leaves.

Seriously, how many people would do something like that? It sounds like the makings of a Hallmark Channel movie.

It makes you glad to know that there are still people who know the true meaning of Christmas.

After 2 days of rain, the sky took on a greenish hue at first that became very red-orange around sunset.
