I realize I haven't been here for some time, so let me give an update. We've been in the new place for about 3 weeks now. It's upstate Connecticut in the same town where one sister has lived for over 30 years. It is so laid back and easy. I'll try to get pictures of the town soon. Those of you who watched Gilmore Girls, this was the main inspiration for Stars Hollow.

On Tuesday, I went with two of my sisters to our old beach. Well, it's not just a beach in the Florida sense or the Jersey sense. It's a peninsula that curves.

Well, I just came in from outside where we could see the final launch of the space shuttle Discovery. Thankfully, we live on a golf course so we had a nice clear spot for viewing. Only 2 more to go.

To boldy go...wait, that's been used already )

I just thought I'd post some of my winter photography from my vacation in CT.

I believe I posted a couple of years ago about a Gaelic themed pattern I did. It was one of two and I finally finished framing it and have them right by the front door.

After 2 days of rain, the sky took on a greenish hue at first that became very red-orange around sunset.

I was just feeling a little artsy so I've been taking photos of Floriday sunsets to share.

(I think I spelled that right.) I remember one birthday when I was in 6th or 7th grade and Co stuck a note with the above scribbled on it into one of my notebooks so when I opened it, out came the note. Then there was the usual scribbling on the mirror in lipstick, always interesting to wake up to.

Today I planned to sleep in, having the alarm set for 5:30 everyday since last Saturday really takes it out of a person. So what happens? I wake up around 6:30, roll back to sleep but wake up at 7:30 with a nasty sinus headache that still hasn't gone away. At least I'm off work.

Oh, and Hez, since you said pictures of our family are fun, I have one that my sister-in-law emailed last night from the wedding.

Everyone is commemorating today in their own style. Mine is a quiet way. I'm wearing a shirt that I wore for the first time just 3 days before it happened.

I was contemplating putting up a poem that [livejournal.com profile] coquillagement wrote the day it happened, but I don't think she'd appreciate it.

Remember how I was thinking of getting a laptop earlier? Well, that idea has been delayed until further notice because I just bought a new car!!! Well, a 2008 Hyundai Accent. And in my head I kept hearing John Simm's voice saying Hyundai from his commercial voiceover. The monthly payments are twice what I was paying on my old car but that was approaching major service work so this is a smarter move. Now I need to familiarize myself with some of the more important functions (such as the radio) for driving to work tomorrow 6:30am.

I came home from work today and there was a FedEx package on the doorstep surprisingly with my name on it and not the folks. When I saw it was from my brother, I knew what it was as he had just returned from Russia earlier this week.

I just took this in the backyard. Don't think it needs any explanation

This will be the first of 2 posts today.

My two friends and I went to our second game yesterday and the weather was gorgeous. It was a little bit more cloudy and a bit more humid but there was a nice breeze. The Mets were playing the Marlins who train down in Jupiter (just about 40 minutes down I95) and that always means a full crowd. We were in a different spot this game: upper reserve just behind home plate which you'll see in the photos. The lineup seemed to be Opening Day form with the big guns: Delgado, Beltran, Wright, Reyes along with CHurch and Murphy. The one who had a fabuloius day was Jonathan Malo, who played in AA last year and wasn't even in the Met's program. Oh yeah, and we got to see K-Rod pitch an inning.

Just took these in the back yard (well, the golf course that is my back yard)

Well, went to my first of three spring training games yesterday. The team itself was mainly second-stringers or minor league wannabes because of the World baseball Classic. They were the "Metless Mets" according to [livejournal.com profile] coquillagement. I went with [livejournal.com profile] donna88keys and M (to protect the innocent) as we have been doing for a number of years now. It's about a 45 minute drive (more or less depending on traffic). Co was very excited when she first heard we were moving to Florida. SHe actually pulled out a map to see how close Port St Lucie was to where my parents and I would be living.

Anyway, we got there early enough to browse the stores and get some food. The day was gorgeous, sunny, near 80 but with a saving breeze.

I have no excuse this week. I don't know why I didn't post earlier. I think I'll just give the answers to last week's songs but wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to post new lyrics. I hope you don't mind. Oh, and going to see the new Bond this afternoon!

1. Save The Last Dance for Me (my version is Michael Buble)
2. Return to Sender -- Elvis
3. Ticket to Ride -- Beatles
4. Only When I Sleep -- The Corrs
5. Never Tear Us Apart -- INXS

To make up for no lyrics, I think I'll post a pretty pic. This might be another weekly post I'll try. I'll leave a hint to see if anyone can guess where it is.

take a look )

This is a picture I took at Easter of a waterlily floating in a pond nearby. I personally think it is one of my best and favorites. Also, this is my first attempt at inserting a photo.
