I can't believe I keep forgetting to post for you people. I'm sure you're all salivating to know the answers. First off, I will say that my stitching is moving along and I've actually moved on to a second color! Did I ever show you what it is?

I have the trellis done for the top half and I'm now working on the shadowing. Then I'll attack the flowers.
My writing is nearing completion for the first part. When I'm ready, i might ask for a beta.

So not a good day. I woke up and was still iffy with the throat and voice. I was so close to calling in sick but I figured I'd go in and try to stick it out. Not good. I ended up pretty much talking to co-workers in a combination of whispers and hand signals. On top of that, I was alternating hot and cold, chills and sweats. Got out a couple hours early. I came home, put on the steam kettle, took a hot shower, changed into PJs and had a hot cup of tea with honey. Oh, and since I will be in my room for the evening, I can get some writing done and work on my new cross-stitch.

I'm in a Steam Room
Feb. 11th, 2009 09:24 pmIn the hopes of warding off a cold, I have the humidifier going to ease my dry, sore throat. Other than that, no news to report.
I ordered a wedding cross-stitch for my nephew and his fiancee and just as I hit the "confirm order" I saw it was a no-count cross-stitch which I really don't like doing. I immediately sent an email to cancel but nothing happened and it arrived Monday. I also ordered my second choice which is a counted cross-stitch and hopefully that should arrive soon. I have less than 5 months to complete the stitching since I'll have to get it framed in time for the wedding.
I posted my latest Doctor Who fic to a number of sites both on LJ and off. It already has a number of good reviews which makes me happy. I've actually started another one which is starting a little slow but hopefully will pick up once I get all the exposition out of the way.

First Post of 2009
Jan. 8th, 2009 08:21 pmNew Year's was nice and quiet. No parties, no champagne. Pretty much treated it like a normal night but I did see the ball drop in Times Square. Work has picked up which is quite nice and maybe soon they will adjust the schedule accordingly. Mets Spring Training tickets go on sale next Saturday!!! My friends and I will be going to the South Florida Fair down in West Palm Beach on the 24th.
Hm, what else? I've actually started another story which I work on at home while I try to finish another while at work. Both feature the Tenth Doctor so hopefully I can keep my plots straight.
Oh, I have to go out and try to find a nice wedding cross-stitch for my nephew and his fiancee who are getting married in July. I found some nice patterns online so now I'll see if I can find them in the stores.

I almost forgot again. With Legend of the Seeker on the small screen, I've decided to start the "Sword of Truth" series and finished Wizard's First Rule last nigt at around 1 am. Parts I had figured out and parts were like, "Oh, ok". I've put a hold on the next two and we'll see where we go from there.
I've started a little Christmas cross-stitch and have a few others I found online to try. My current DW/TOC story is fast approaching the point to where I don't know what to do next. I have general ideas but nothing concrete. Well, general ideas meaning typical Doctor-Confronts-the-Aliens-in-Their-Lair moments but that's about it.
I already posted the answers to last week's songs so I'll just jump right in with this week's.
1. ...As golden days break wondering Chance as love takes a train
2. All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
3. Is this the real life- Is this just fantasy-
4. How does it feel To treat me like you do
5. Oh yeah, I´ll tell you something I think you´ll understand

Oct. 31st, 2008 03:28 pmI can now finish my Tennant cross-stitch. I had to drive up to Michaels to get the thread I needed as the closer JoAnn's Fabrics was out yet again. While I was there, I picked up a frame kit for that Celtic cross-stitch I finished in April (http://jpgr.livejournal.com/37700.html#cutid1) and I also picked up some fabric to have should the need arise. I then popped into Circuit City and Best Buy to check out the iPods as my little Serenity's battery is way below par. According to Apple, a fully charged nano should run 14 hours--mine ran a little over three. Supposedly, they will replace my iPod for a small fee ($59) so I was just checking out what the new nanos go for ($149). Tomorrow or Sunday I have to make a run to the Apple Store down in Palm Beach Gardens. I'll keep you all updated.
It's Cool!
Oct. 29th, 2008 10:17 amWell, when I woke up this morning it was 50 outside. No, I haven't opened the window yet, but I will in about an hour or so. Vacation has been going well and I've actually been getting things done that I planned to. I still haven't tackled the closet--that I have to build up to. I've just about typed up everything I've written on my latest fic and I hope to get some new stuff written up. I'm also reading Brisinger which is on loan from a friend at work. Today I'll go out and get that last color thread I need for my cross-stitch of 10 so that'll soon be finished and up for grabs. ANyone care to pre-order?

It's That Time of the Week, People!
Apr. 9th, 2008 03:34 pmYep another post from me, the post you all wait for with bated breath. First some news out of the way.
One of my nephews came down from Brooklyn because his girlfriend's aunt has a condo the next town up from us. He told me last Tuesday and of course I couldn't tell my folks. So they were here Sat for dinner. Sunday my brother was down overnight because he had a conference down in Boca. This Saturday a sister is coming with her 3 boys and husband and Co arrives on the 19th with her family.
Hm, the Mets are 2-4 1.5 games out. OK, it's only the first week. Take deep breaths and you can make it through.
I've already started my next cross-stitch project. It's smaller than the last one so I don't think it should take that long.
My writing has slowed to a trickle so I need to get myself going on that front.
Oh, and something new I might try here. I did some for series 3 but never posted so after they air here in the US, I will write up transcripts for Doctor Who starting with "Voyage of the Damned".
Now the Answers:

1. Dear God - XTC
2. People are People - Depeche Mode
3. God Save the Queen - Sex Pistols

Now for this week:
There's two hundred quid's worth of drugs here. We plant them on him, watch him grow into a big flower of justice
1. Dark in the city, night is a wire Steam in the subway, earth is a fire
2. Over and over I tried to prove my love to you Over and over What more can I do
3. Now the king told the boogie men You have to let that raga drop
4. ...I feel like this is the beginning, Though Ive loved you for a million years
5. Today is gonna be the day That they're gonna throw it back to you

Second Post!
Mar. 25th, 2008 07:08 pmYeah me and a second post. Not something that happens often. The ballgame was great. it was a bit chilly especially when the wind blew but they won in the bottom of the 9th against the Braves so yay!
Tomorrow is Mom's birthday so I'll be doing dinner: curried chicken and rice. It's done in the microwave and comes out great. I've done it a couple of times before to rave reviews.
I am nearing completion on my cross-stitch so hopefully by the end of the month (fingers crossed).
Not much else going on here but April looks to be busy in regards to the B&B. One brother for an overnight on the 6th, onbe sister from the 12-20 and Co arrives the 19th. And of course Torchwood ends the 4th and DW starts the 5th! I so can't wait.
And for something I know you've all been waiting for....
Last week's quote: George Bernard Shaw Pygmalion(Basically those of you who know your musicals, just sing "I'm an Ordinary Man" from My Fair Lady)
1. Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head -- BJ Thomas
2. Goodbye to You -- Scandal
3. I Didn't Mean to Turn You On -- Robert Palmer
4. Fire -- Pointer Sisters

3. I try to sing this song I...I try to stand up But I can't find my feet

5. Your everlasting summer You can see it fading fast
(Yes, I put an odd one in on purpose to see if anyone gets it)

A Number of Things
Mar. 12th, 2008 03:18 pmA couple of weeks ago, I got out of bed and could barely stand on my left foot. I thought I had bruised it or something so iced it and wrapped it. It still bothers me so the other day I figured I'd look up the symptoms online. It sounds like I have Plantar fasciitis "is inflammation, usually due to injury, of the plantar fascia, the ligament between the front of the heel bone and the base of the toes that helps to support the arch. It causes severe pain on the bottoms of the feet, especially in the morning." According to self-treatment, I have to ice it 3-4 times a day, wear arch supports, don't go barefoot, and stretch it. If it's still not better in another week or two, I'll go to the doctor.
In happier news, I'm going to my first spring training game of the year on Saturday to see the Mets v. Cardinals and if there are no changes to the rotation, I think we'll be seeing Santana!
Writing has slowed but I will make myself work on it and I've also been doing some more cross-stitch.

Easily Distracted
Jan. 16th, 2008 10:08 amYeah, that's me. Easily distracted by other things and I keep forgetting to post here. I've been catching up on a few shows and I finally got around to seeing Blackpool which I thought was absolutely brilliant. Well, getting to hear David Tennant act with his true voice didn't hurt either. :)
As for other news...
1)Prison Break started up again Monday
2)Torchwood series 2 starts today
3)Spring Training tickets go on sale Saturday
4)Torchwood series 1 DVDs released Stateside next Tuesday
5)My next story in the Doctor Who/TOC Files series (5) has come back from my beta which is a good thing cos I've already started writing the sixth one
6)The beta for my next-to-bt-posted TOC Files story had to back out for medical reasons so there will be a slight delay on that front which means that the next story (which only needs a finish) will sit about a bit
7)Oh, and I've gotten back to working on a cross-stitch I started last spring. Just all the final detailing. When I'm done with that, I might try the David Tennant one I found.
I'm still trying to get my iTunes back in shape after purchasing the new PC. I'm only at about 530 songs when it had been over 1300. But I'll do a quote to keep your minds sharp.
What's the point of going out? We're just going to wind up back here anyway
(TV show)
ETA: I forgot to tell you what the songs were from before Christmas!
1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas--Judy Garland
2. Gimme Some Lovin' -- Spencer Davis group
3. What Is This Thing Called Love--John Barrowman
4. It's Now or Never--Elvis
5. Refugee--Tome Petty

Apr. 21st, 2006 07:56 pmJust an update basically to say "Yes, I'm still here". Not much going on. My sister and her family were just down for Easter and the weather was wonderful. So, as they hit me....
Well, my Mets are doing well.First place by 3 games (I think) so we'll just have to see how long it'll last.
I finally finished my latest cross-stitch project. I now have to clean and mount it but the real work is done.
I'm juggling three stories at once...all fan fic. One is a Hogan's Heroes story with one of my original characters. Still needs an ending and some polish. The second is a Firefly fic with yet another original character. The last is the latest entry in a crossover series I have involving the Pretender. This is with Stargate SG1. So if anyone wants to beta or check out what I've got so far or throw about a few ideas, let me know.
