Time for a Breather
Apr. 3rd, 2005 10:22 pmI now have a break between family visitors for a couple of weeks. I kinda miss having older siblings about, but not when I have to share the bathroom and hope I get to work on time!
And it's official: baseball is here! Unfortunately, Boston is losing to the other NY team at the moment. Their home opener against that same team will be all the more sweeter when they reveal the World Series banner and rub it in their faces!
And the death of John Paul II. I don't think we'll see another like him. Yes, they need to make some progress in regards to certain policies, but they need to take it slow as not to offend the stalwart Catholics. I remember when he was named. We had moved to NJ that summer and I started 8th grade--my first year at a Catholic school (my sister likes to brag that she is the only one who never went to Catholic school!)When Pope Paul died, we had the day off. Being 12 (almost 13) I wasn't about to question it. Then John Paul I died and we had another day off. I remember it was overcast and a little chilly as I played in the back yard with the dog. The things you remember as a child. Anyway, I saw an interview with a young gilr (teenager) and she commented that he was the only Pope she had ever known and that really struck me. It's kind of like those who grew up during the Depression and WWII--the only President they knew was FDR.
