At work, I've changed my screen saver to where it scrolls across with a line, so I've decided to do a quote of the week. And now, I've decided to start putting it here too! (When I remember)

I've already used some from Firefly:
"That's what governments are for--to get in a man's way"
"You're like a trained ape--without the training"
"A government is a body of people usually notably ungoverned"
"We're on the corner of No and Where"

Some Doctor Who:
"A straight line may be the shortest distance between 2 points but it is by no means the most interesting"
"There's no point in being grown up if you can't act childish sometimes"
"Don't listen to me, I never do"
"Nothing like the obvious to mislead and confuse"

Oh, and something a bit more cultural:
"A man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for?"
(Robert Browning)

Anyway, my quote for this week is:
"There is no indignity in being afraid to die, but there is a terrible shame in being afraid to live."

I'll take guesses! : )

How come I can never catch great quotes like that while I'm watching Firefly? Is there a website or something for them? (**dies of shame**)

I had no idea you'd be checkin' in here, Cap'n. Otherwise'n that, I'da kept a lower profile. Didn't mean no harm.

One of the many times I watched it was specifically to get quotes. I think at the newsgroup (alt.tv.firefly) there was a post under the heading "Best Damn Line" and I'm sure you can find a bunch of others.

Nice quotes. I have no idea where your quote of the week is from, because you're mixing fandom and literature and history... it sounds very warlike. I have no idea. :P

I have no idea who the hell would ever need that kind of information. Gorram crazy, I call it.

Who said there had to be a need? Such quotes can provide insight and advice, and, if you know where to look, military strategy.
