I just got one for Christmas and I'm still learning the ropes. One thing I'd like to do is use it for writing. I know about iCloud but everything I've written is with Word. My question is, what do you use for word processing and is it compatible with MS Word? I've been looking at Pages and it seems to fit the bill, but I just want to hear from users.

Thanks in advance!

I coughed up the extra money and got QuickOffice Pro when I got my iPad and it has been so worth the money. It's specifically for MS Office documents and has a PDF converter and was upgraded recently to include features like word count. Only downside I've had is that you can't upload files directly into Dropbox (though you can take files from Dropbox and open them directly in QuickOffice.) Don't know about any other Word compatible programs. I've been happy enough with QuickOffice so haven't tried others.

"Pages" is what you want -- you can translate that into Microsoft Word and email stories back and forth between the iPad and your main computer. Pages even keeps track of the versions, tacking a 1, 2, 3, etc onto the ends of the file names for you.
