Hey! I know it's been over a week and I apologize so to make up for it, this is a pretty long post. I actually scratched part of it out at work during a slow moment so maybe I can actually read it.

First off, I'll start with a quote from a film that I think/hope most of you know.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down, and that foot is me.

Next, answers to the songs from last week.
1. People Will Say We're in Love -- Oklahoma!
2. Maybe Baby -- Buddy Holly
3. Oh Darling -- The Beatles
4. Drive My Car -- The Beatles
5. Ami -- Pure Prarie League

Now I'll stick my ramblings behind cuts

I've finally gotten my hands on Swings Cole Porter. Even though I've heard him say how much he loves the material, you can really hear it when he sings. I played it for my mom who likes it and wants her friends to hear it on the 4th. I've also gotten some friendslistening. I sent one some YouTube links of him performing and she said "I would love to see him in a musical!" Word is spreading slowly here, but I'm trying!

I decided to check out the back catalogue of work for both David Tennant and John Simm last week. There were a couple of amusing things I noticed with regards to DT. During his final scene in A Lesson in Murder (Foyle's War), he says "I'm sorry" which brought a little smile. (He did not follow with "I'm so sorry" however). In Bright Young Things his character's name is Ginger, something the Doctor has wanted to be. In one scene, "Ginger" rambles on a bit like 10.

As for John Simm, I watched 24 Hour Party People and I now have Joy Division and New Order alternating in my head. Was that really him singing "Blue Monday"? I know sometimes even if an actor in a bio-pic can sing. the producers prefer to use the real recordings. It wouldn't surprise me if it is him because I know he can and does with magic Alex. One thing that did surprise me is at the end of the movie under "Special Thanks" they list Christopher Eccleston! I guess they were talking with people who grew up in and around Manchester at the time for stories.

I'm still not sure where I stand on this. I only watched it through once Saturday night and I think I'll need a few more before I can say yay or nay. Parts of it were absolutely fantastic (Master's death scene) and others were rubbish (Doctor's restoration). Martha's leaving didn't throw me at all because I think I had read something early on in the series that he would leave her at some point so she could resume her studies and I was quite pleased with how it was handled. Hm, as for Jack.... I like how he felt Torchwood is where he belongs now and that he doesn't need the Doctor. I like how the Doctor got over Jack's "wrongness" enough to ask him to join them. The Big Reveal. I was floored when it was said and immediately thought, "Nah, Jack's just playing with them". Then I was like "Aww, the Doctor was there when Jack died and didn't even know it"! I'm still not sure if I like the idea of Jack being FOB but I don't like how it was done. It felt like it was just shoved in there and also, how will it affect how viewers will see Jack now? I know, nothing exactly coherent and I apologize but I really haven't dwelled on it yet like some!

As you can see, by the icon, I have seen the new Robin Hood thanks to a friend who loaned me her DVDs. I think it's fun and definitely a Hood for this generation. (Mine was Robin of Sherwood.) For those of you who haven't yet and like all things Robin Hood, give it a whirl!

I think it must have been the revival because it wasn't that long ago. Funnily enough though I only made the connection about 6 months ago when I was listening to my soundtrack recording and thought "That sounds like Captain Jack ..." Doh!

Does he sing "You're the Top"? Oh, if you could send that my way, I would love it! If it's too much trouble, don't worry.

(I just realized I need to set up more icons with this account!)

He does indeed, and it is quite marvellous. Happy to send it your way at some point, although it won't be for a little while as I am off on holiday for a week on Friday and am up to my eyeballs until then. Send me your email addy to atropos877 at yahoo dot co dot uk and I'll sort it out when I get back.
