On Saturday my friend and I drove across state (about 3 hours or so) to Tampa in order to see one of Liverpool's favorite sons. The drive was so goddamned boring because it was a state road through mainly wetlands or fields of cattle hiding in the sun. Of course we had the complete Beatles with us as well as some select McCartney/Wings CDs. We listened, trying to guess what songs he'd play. We weren't anywheres near 100% as he did throw in quite a few surprises.

We walked from the hotel to the St Petersburg Times Forum (what a mouthful!) and I didn't feel the sweat until we stopped. Let me just say that the promoters/organizers could have done a much better job than they did getting people inside. The concert was alsmot 40 minutes late starting. Our seats were in the upper level on the side of the stage. It gave a very different perspective which was entertaining in itself.

He started with a little film presentation talking about growing up, life as a Beatle, and his love of performing. Not surprisingly, there wasn't a shot of Linda. OK, the first song was Magical Mystery Tour which was appropriate. He followed with Flaming Pie , an album he ignored last time around.

At one point, there was a bit of an accident that could have ended the tour then and there. Part of the stage slid back and then his piano rose up from beneath. Paul backed up a bit to far and stumbled into the hole. The piano was rising, so it wasn't a drastic fall, but if he had broken a bone.....

He performed for about 2½--3 hours. We were back in the hotel by midnight tired and sweaty but not just ready to sleep. Watched a wee bit of TV and I think I fell asleep a little after 2:00. However, I woke up at 5:00 and couldn't get back to sleep. Nibbled on some apples and Munchkins with some iced tea for breakfast and we were on the road a little after 9:00.

I had every intention of writing the playlist in a little notebook, but that kinda fell by the wayside. So, on the way back the next morning driving home, we compiled the list chronologically.
